Code of Conduct
The standards we hold students, staff and parents to — on campus, on transport, and online.
Last updated
This Code of Conduct sets out what Gnan Srishti School of Excellence expects of students, staff and parents — on campus, on school transport, at school events, and online. It is drafted in-house as a starting point and should get a full policy review before it is treated as final; see the [TODO] notes inline.
1. Who this Code applies to
This Code applies to every student, teacher and staff member of the school, and to parents and guardians while on campus, on school transport, or at a school event. It applies during the school day, on school transport, at school-organised events outside school hours, and to online conduct connected to the school — including school-related group chats and social media.
2. Core expectations of students
Every student is expected to:
- Treat every other person on campus with respect, regardless of background, ability or belief.
- Be honest — in schoolwork, in what they say, and in how they represent themselves.
- Arrive on time and attend every scheduled class.
- Wear the school uniform correctly on all working days.
- Take care of school property and the belongings of others.
- Use respectful language, in person and online.
3. Attendance and punctuality
Regular attendance is expected of every student. A written explanation, signed by a parent or guardian, is required for any absence. Repeated unexplained absence or lateness is followed up by the class teacher in the first instance.
4. Uniform, grooming and personal belongings
The prescribed uniform, shoes and ID card are worn on all working days. Valuable personal items brought to school are the student’s own responsibility; the school is not liable for their loss.
5. Academic honesty
Assignments, projects and examinations must be a student’s own work. Copying, plagiarism, and giving or receiving unauthorised help during an assessment are treated as academic misconduct and are addressed through the discipline process below.
6. Anti-bullying and harassment
Bullying — physical, verbal, social or online — is not tolerated. This includes repeated unwanted behaviour intended to hurt, intimidate or exclude another person.
- What counts: hitting or physical intimidation, name-calling and insults, deliberate exclusion, spreading rumours, and any of the above conducted online or over chat.
- How to report: any student, parent or staff member can raise a concern with a class teacher, the counsellor, or [TODO: designated Discipline/Grievance Officer].
- How the school responds: every report is looked into promptly and confidentially, involving the students and parents concerned as appropriate.
- No retaliation: a student who reports bullying in good faith will not be penalised for doing so, and retaliation against a person who has reported is itself treated as misconduct.
7. Digital conduct and devices
Personal devices brought to school are used only as school policy permits during the school day. Online conduct connected to the school — including class and school-related group chats — is expected to meet the same standard of respect as conduct on campus. Sharing another person’s photo, video or personal information without consent is not permitted.
8. Conduct on school transport and at off-campus events
The expectations of this Code apply in full on the school bus and at any school-organised event away from campus, including sports fixtures, excursions and inter-school events. Students remain under the supervision of accompanying staff for the duration of the event.
9. Expectations of parents and guardians
Parents and guardians are asked to support the school’s Code by reinforcing it at home, engaging respectfully with staff and other families, and raising concerns through the channels below rather than directly with another family’s child.
10. Discipline: how concerns are handled
Concerns are addressed at the lowest appropriate level first, and escalate only if needed:
- A conversation between the class teacher and the student, usually with the parent informed.
- Involvement of the counsellor or the relevant Head of Section for a repeated or more serious concern.
- A formal meeting with parents and the Principal for matters that are not resolved at the steps above.
- Further action, up to and including suspension, for serious or repeated misconduct — [TODO: confirm the exact escalation and appeal process against current school policy].
At every step, the student and their parents are told what is being addressed and why.
11. Reporting a concern
A concern under this Code can be raised with the class teacher directly, or in writing to info@gsshsr.com or +91 91481 55709, and it will be routed to the right person. [TODO: name and designation of the school’s Discipline/Grievance Officer for conduct matters.]
This Code of Conduct is effective from 2026-08-11. Like the school’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, it is a starting point drafted in-house and should be reviewed against the school’s actual current practice before being treated as final.
